Case Study

Aviation Giant Simplifies its IT Infrastructure with Cloud Migration

Business Scenario

The customer is a global leader within the executive aviation industry. They have built a reputation of delivering excellent trip planning solutions perfectly paired with their global network of strategically located Operation Centers.

The client wanted to migrate its on-premise IT Infrastructure setup to Cloud along with DR with an intention to optimize IT performance and cost, and improve security thus taking a leap towards Opex IT model.

The client aimed to achieve below objectives with the new Infrastructure on cloud solution:

  • Migrate the Business Model from CAPEX to OPEX
  • Reliable, Robust and Efficient infrastructure that provides better up-time and low maintenance cost

On engaging Intertec’s cloud team, they did an assessment of client’s existing IT infrastructure and future IT requirement based on business growth. The solution was proposed based on the global standards for network and security requirements, at same time enhancing the end User Experience for accessibility of application.

Challenges

  • CAPEX investment on current IT Infrastructure
  • Availability and up-time of on-premise Infrastructure
  • Declined Efficiency of IT Resources
  • Outdated Technologies
  • Enlarged efforts to mange the on-premise Infrastructure
  • Meeting growing business demands and infrastructure scalability

Solution

The project was delivered by Intertec’s certified cloud professionals who have successfully completed many cloud migration projects. Once the assessment was done by the team, it didn’t take long to conclude that the solution was to move the client’s infrastructure to the cloud and consolidate their existing IT systems to a centralised ‘Infrastructure as a Service’ solution that is hosted and maintained in a safe, secure and robust private cloud environment.

This cloud-based infrastructure incorporates the following technologies that all work together to form the client’s unified cloud-based IT infrastructure. Some of the key considerations taken into account while migration were:

  • Ease of configuration and distribution considering multiple locations
  • Design and Configuration affiliated with Audits and reviews
  • Increased Efficiency and Faster Deployment Times of Infrastructure Resources
  • Enhanced Security Features
  • Less Infrastructure Complexity
  • Automatic Backup and Logging of Key Metrics
  • A “Single Pane of Glass” for Services
  • Reduced Footprint (aka Data Centers)
  • Improved Cost Management
  • Intertec does all this under a single umbrella called Intertec Cloud Experience (ICE)

The solution has below capabilities:

  • Site Recovery Services to perform replication for the all the resources from DC to DR
  • Availability Sets Architecture to ensure that the Azure virtual machines are deployed across multiple isolated hardware nodes in a cluster
  • Provides redundancy for your virtual machines
  • To leverage Microsoft’s 99.95% up-time
  • Proactive monitoring for events and alerts under 24*7*365 service window
  • Monthly Availability & Performance Reporting

The client had  zero downtime throughout the entire migration project.

Outcome

  • Change the business model from CAPEX to OPEX
  • Minimize the potential exposure from the unauthorized disclosure and/or modification to client’s information
  • Scalable solution for the expected growth
  • High availability and redundancy of all the resources.
  • Ease of configurations
